Year 2 have been using Cuisenaire Rods to explore different sequences to match rods to the length of the orange rod. This helped Year 2 to start to see simple algebra patterns. We then introduced the idea that the orange rod was 10 and what value could the other rods be to make 10. All of this work helped us to see how numbers can be split into different parts to make a whole.
We then used this to help us add numbers to 100.
