For RE day this term, Year 3 and 4 focused on Advent and the importance of it within the Christian faith. We visited St.John's church, where Rev. Tony explained why Advent is so important as well as discussed the meanings of the colours and traditions associated with Advent. Throughout the day, we created our own Advent wreaths, Advent wishes as well as created the Nativity scene using clay.
During theme week, both year groups thought carefully about peace and how it linked to the end of The First World War. Children designed and created bunting, participated in a yoga session, constructed shoe box trenches, discussed what peace was to them as well as wrote prayers about peace. The children were also lucky to have a visit from Captain Dales who brought in lots of different equipment and uniforms for us to look at as well as discussing what his job entails.
Look through the different pictures and select one that you like. Then, write a paragraph to describe it. You need to include descriptive language such as adjectives and similes. Whilst completing this, think about the five senses. In our lessons, we will be reading our descriptive passages to a partner, to see if we can guess which picture we have described.
