Music at St John's

Music plays an important part in the life of the school. There are many opportunities for children to be involved in music making as part of the curriculum. We are exceptionally proud of our whole class instrument teaching: Year 6 are all learning the ukalele and year 5 are African Drumming in their lessons. This year we have also introduced whole class violin teaching for Year 2.

In addition to class lessons, we have choir and Peripatetic teachers provide lessons in a wide variety of instruments.

We also arrange concerts for the whole school and provide opportunities for the children to see the work of experienced musicians.

The children are given frequent opportunities to perform and enjoy taking part in a wide variety of community music events throughout the year. St John's children have performed at the Amersham Music Festival and at the Albert Hall in the Echoes concert.
