July 2010

Several members of the Environmental Club have been awarded Green Blue Peter badges for looking after the environment; they wrote to Blue Peter about the hedgehog homes and mini beast mansion they have constructed in the school grounds.

The Outdoor Classroom was officially opened on Wednesday 15 July by Mr Anderson, a trustee of the Baptist church, and Mrs Healy, Chair of the Parents Association. The fountain in the pond was switched on by Mel and Laura representing the Pupil Council and Lucy representing the Environmental Club.

       
   

 Some Year 6 children provided entertainment in the form of music, a gym display and street dance.

Walk to school day

Lots of children joined the Crocodile for walk to school day

         

Sponsored walk

The First school had a very successful morning walking around the all weather path while the middle school had to dodge the rain but still managed plenty of laps.

       

5K Fun Run Results

The 5Km Fun Run on Sunday 17 May was a great success.
The event was won by Chris Stuart in a time of 17:45 mins. The 1st dad home was Steve Burton in a time of 22:38 mins. The 1st mum and also fastest woman was Susan Jacobs in a time of23:01 mins. The under 18 winner was Adam Grout in 20:46

March 2009

6 members of the Environmental Club have won a competition organised by John Lewis. They had to create a collage on the theme of 'Spring'. The group, Lucy E, Altaea, Iona, Alice OA, Lottie R and Francesca visited John Lewis on Monday 23 March to be presented with their prize of £50 for the school.
The collage, entitled 'The baby bird catches the worm'.

   
4 fruit trees have been purchased with the prize money, which the Environmental club have planted.

 

Both Years 5 and 6 had enjoyable visits to Dorney Court dressed in Tudor costume. They had a tour of the house and church in the morning and performed Tudor dances in the afternoon followed by sketching the house.
       

A team of 13 Year 1 and 14 Year 2 children took part in a cross country competition in Speen on 17 March. Laura H won the Year 1 race. The Year 2 boys came 2nd and the Year 2 girls were 3rd.
   

 

On Thursday 5 March the children were both entertained and educated by the Pals Production Group. The theme was 'Reduce, Recycle and Reuse'; with singing, interaction and a story based on good versus evil the importance of recycling was reinforce.
 The children really enjoyed the hour and were heard singing the main song during break and lunch.

We presented a cheque for £250 to Agape Alive in India, a school we are supporting. The money was raised by the non-uniform and Hotdog day held this month

All the children looked very impressive in Victorian costume for the day on Thursday and enjoyed their Victorian experience

Latest pictures of the trench being dug across the playground. The edge of Grymsdyke or Gryms Ditch has been found near the year 1 and 2 classrooms. It is about 10 metres wide and goes under the classrooms. So far they have found a Wrens Dairy milk bottle.
       

Excavation work in the First school playground has been carried out to check for archaeological finds before work on the new link building can begin
