Our links with St John's Church

The school has close links with the church and our Friday Act of Worship is led by Reverend Tony or James from the Princes Risborough team. The whole school attends services in church, at the start and end of every term. In addition, special church services are arranged for other important days in the church calendar such as Ash Wednesday and Ascension Day.

A Letter from Reverend Tony:

On behalf of all at St. Johns’ Church, I am pleased to affirm our active support for the work of our Parish School of St. John’s in all of the efforts that are made to achieve the school’s stated aim of enabling each and all of the children to fulfil their potential within the context of a caring and compassionate Christian ethos.

On a personal level, I do enjoy the school services in Church at the beginning and end of each term, and for major festivals, as well as other visits that groups of children make to the Church from time to time for a range of learning opportunities.

Together with clergy colleagues from the Risborough Team Ministry and the RAF High Wycombe base chaplaincy, I am also delighted to be involved in leading Friday morning assemblies in school for which the active participation of the children is warmly encouraged not least through the work of the children’s Collective Worship group. Both as the local Vicar and as a Governor of the school, I am also very glad to be involved in a range of other events and activities in the life of the school.

                                                                                                                                                                 Canon Tony Bundock

Mothering Sunday March 31st

St John's children and their parents are invited to join with the St John's congregation for their Mothering Sunday Service at 10am. The children have been practising a song which they will be singing at the service.

Remembrance Sunday

On Sunday 11th November, children, their parents and staff from school, joined the congregation of St John’s Church at their Service of Remembrance. Our children sang ‘Let there be Peace’ and shared some of their poems, written in theme week. The children all conducted themselves very well and received many compliments from members of the congregation.

Many thanks to Mrs Insley who led our choir; to those parents who brought their children to church and to Mrs Thomas who organised the children.

Service of Remembrance 2018

On Friday 9th November, the whole school attended our Service of Remembrance, at St John's Church. Led by Rev Tony, the service featured some of the work from our Peace Theme Week, including poems and prayers written by the children. We were pleased to welcome Squadron Leader Jones, from RAF High Wycombe, who read 'In Flanders' Fields'. He then joined the KS 1 children in the laying of poppy wreaths. The service featured the playing of the last post, by Mr Insley and some wonderful singing from the children of 'A Wish for Peace', led by Mrs Insley. Our Year 6 children also 'planted' memorial crosses, to those who died during World War 1.  Many thanks to all who contributed to this lovely service and to those parents who joined us on this occasion. Remembrance Service
