World Book Day: Thursday 1st March
World Book Day is on Thursday 1st March. We will be celebrating this day in school with a special assembly and a number of ‘book’ related activities during the day; this will include children bringing in a favourite book that can be shared with their friends. This year we will not be dressing up; we have decided to do this every two years to give children and parents enough opportunities to find and change costumes.
Coming home this week is a special reading challenge card for each child. There are 20 challenges e.g. Read a story out loud to your favourite toy or read a book wearing a hat. If the children complete the challenges and have their card signed, each child will be rewarded with 5 housepoints!
We are also asking children /parents to take photos of the children’s store of books / book shelves at home so we can create a special display of how much reading we do at home. Again, good photos will be rewarded with housepoints
The children will also be given a World Book day token which can be redeemed at most bookstores.
We hope the children will look forward to enjoying a very ‘literary’ day!
