World Religion Theme Day

We all enjoyed learning more about Hinduism on our World Religion Theme Day. In Year 5 we learned about Hindu beliefs and traditions, including the many Hindu gods.We were able to handle Hindu artefacts from the school collection in look at them in detail.

We made origami lotus flowers, a Hindu symbol, then celebrated the Hindu kite festival of Makar Sankranti, which takes place on the 15th January each year to celebrate the sun's northward journey from the Tropic of Capricorn. Everyone made and decorated colourful kites which we then flew in the playground, although unfortunately it was not very windy!
