The opening of our new Music Pavilion today, was celebrated with a musical performance of drumming by Year 6 pupils and the singing of KS 2 classes, under the direction of Mrs Insley. Our specially invited guests included the architect, Clem Blakemore, Governors, members of the PA and many of those who kindly sponsored the building work. Members of Mrs Grimsey’s family also attended and they were able to view the finished building which she had been so keen to have built at St John’s. The pavilion, which has been in use since the spring, was opened with a traditional cutting of a ribbon by the two youngest children, assisted by the Chair and Vice Chair of the Pupil Council.
After the opening, a time capsule was buried next to a rose planted in memory of Mrs Grimsey. Inside, contributions from children and their families reflect life at St John’s in 2019. Thanks to Mrs O’Connor for coordinating this for us.
